Matthew Bonna

I'm a technical program manager who likes untangling messy, high-stakes launches in robotics, AI, and manufacturing, then getting them out the door.

My career as a project schedule

Programs I've led

Two AI/ML support tools, from requirements to rollout

Amazon, 2023 to present

What I did

Owned both products end to end: a generative AI support tool and a machine learning classification engine. Defined requirements, coordinated cross-functional development, led pilot testing, and drove production rollout.

How it went

15% reduction in mean time to resolution, and root cause analysis automated across all product lines.

From onsite technicians to a remote support contract

Amazon, 2025

What I did

Led the vendor transition program. Negotiated contract requirements, designed a tiered escalation framework, defined vendor performance KPIs, and built contingency SOPs for periods without coverage.

How it went

Contingency procedures that addressed 78 identified coverage gaps.

Bringing 22 packaging robots into enterprise support

Amazon, 2025

What I did

Designed the ticket routing workflow, deployed onsite for cross-functional training and escalation shadowing, and authored troubleshooting runbooks and severity-based escalation procedures. Managed the program risk register throughout.

How it went

22 robots across 4 sites supported through 425+ incidents, 71 of them high-severity, in the first operational year.

A $6M vendor portfolio for conversational AI data

Meta, 2021 to 2023

What I did

Ran 10+ concurrent data collection and annotation workstreams across 4 vendor partners. Set timelines, aligned stakeholders, tracked headcount and budget, and reported through monthly and quarterly business reviews. Built a centralized system that mapped project requirements to vendor capabilities.

How it went

Annotation vendor budget down 30%. Hiring cycle time down 20% with a flexible contract-specialist framework, and data request lead times down 25% by moving privacy and integrity reviews earlier in planning.

Where I've worked

Amazon

Product Support Engineer, 2024 to present
Technical Product Manager, 2023 to 2024

Reduced a product's ticket volume by 41% year over year by retiring a legacy alerting mechanism, partnering with an engineering team to fix a three-year-old data integrity issue, and delivering a staffing ratio analysis to senior leadership.

Redesigned the technical onboarding program with structured mentorship, hands-on lab rotations, calibration assessments, and standardized SOPs.

Meta

Senior Project Manager, Product Data Operations, 2021 to 2023

Managed the vendor portfolio described above, including headcount planning, budget tracking, and direct management of a project coordinator.

Boeing

Test Program Integration Project Leader, 2019 to 2021
Product Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, 2015 to 2019

Built a parametric cost-estimation framework from 15 years of historical testing data, which let leadership validate the scope of a $4M, multi-year test program and plan capacity and supplier allocation.

Managed fabrication and assembly of 6 laboratory test rigs ($1M to $4M each) for regulated aerospace programs. Cut material lead and cycle time by 20% with a Kanban-based replenishment system, and delivered a real-time program controls dashboard for a military derivative program within one month.

Eaton

Product Engineer, 2014 to 2015

Led the root cause investigation of a production-critical fuel system component on an active military helicopter fleet. Traced the problem to a flawed test procedure, validated the revised method with the customer, and restored certification without grounding any aircraft.

School and certifications

University of Washington

MBA, Finance and Operations, Foster School of Business (2021)

BS, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering (2014)

Certifications

ITIL 4 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
